Just a Lil Happy is a saying in Water Valley. It means I was thinking of you, and I got you something, no need for a thank you note, it was no trouble.

Our Just a Lil Happy series is always a single origin coffee. Meaning all the beans are from one place, and it varies! Right now: Nicaraguan!  Outstanding drip coffee.

About the origin!

Nicaragua SHG San Juan del Rio Coco is a Shade-Grown Organic full bodied coffee with a rich mouthfeel and an earthy aroma. It has a dark density that pairs particularly well with chocolate or rich foods. It is certified Bird-Friendly by the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center (SMBC).

CORCASAN – COOP REGIONAL CAFETALEROS SAN JUAN RIO COCO

In 1978, a group of farmers came together to combine their resources and efforts to sell coffee, gain finances and share infrastructural and training costs. Later in 1992, Luisa Gonzalez was living in Esteli Nicaragua working in financial services for a local bank. One day she met a coffee farmer from the small town of San Juan del Rio Coco. He told Luisa that the farmers in his community needed someone to help run their group: everything from technical assistance to product commercialization, member management and coordinating member services. Luisa soon became the first employee of CORCASAN, a cooperative that was officially organized in 1994. Luisa and the farmers realized that the best way to grow their business and access better prices was to seek international buyers. Third party certification was a key piece to this puzzle.

NICARAGUA FTO SMBC SAN JUAN RIO COCO is sourced from family-owned farms organized around Unión de Cooperativas Agropecuarias de San Juan del Río Coco (UCA), a cooperative operating in the municipality of San Juan de Río Coco within the departments of Madriz, Nicaragua. The cooperative has 420 members (80 women) who, on average, cultivate 12 acres of coffee. The cooperative provides marketing, technical assistance, and small business lending to all of its members.
