About Us
In a little old railroad town, on the corner of Main and Wagner, there’s a rather improbable old brick building. It’s been many things since the 1870s, but since 2010, has hosted The B.T.C. Old-Fashioned Grocery. The BTC sells homegrown tomatoes, scratch-made pimento cheese, raw honey, local milk, sourdough bread, and has a thriving lunch counter with a killer menu. Saturday brunch. The whole shebang!
But shopkeep Alexe van Beuren never could find the kind of coffee SHE likes— full- bodied, rich, notes of chocolate. Coffee that wakes you up in the morning but doesn’t slap you. So she set out to make some. We hope you enjoy. And just so you know—
- This coffee is 100% fair-trade and organic
- This bag is compostable
- The BTC uses solar power
- We use coffee roasting byproducts in our gardens
- And for good measure, we try hard to walk to work, shop with our neighbors, and volunteer weekly at our local elementary school
